A Real Game to Learn Econ 101 — EconQuest

Inspired by Civilization VI and by the paper “The Fractured-Land Hypothesis” (Fernández-Villaverde et al., 2023), I see strategy games as a natural tool for learning economics — both rest on maximizing utility (wealth), interacting with other players, and responding to general equilibrium feedback. In my spare time, I enjoy building EconQuest (with the help of Claude), a video game that aims to motivate and help high-school and first-year undergraduate students learn economics.
